2025 Cards

Thanks to everyone both new and returning artists who has submitted work for this year’s InFinnity Project.  It has been wonderful seeing how the themes have been interpreted.  The Judges have mostly agreed on the final selection as follows and there are quotes accompanying the work :

The Nature theme attracted the most submissions and in recognition of this two works were chosen:

Tear of a Tree by Mark Whittaker

 Comments by Judges

Absolutely stunning piece and I really enjoyed the graphic bold colours

Very striking image of intriguing forms. It really draws in the viewer, i love the    strong links between nature and human emotion

Like the formal if unusual arrangement of the tree against the horizon; hints       of Aubrey Beardsley’s figures!

Humphrey by Michelle Cush

Comments by Judges:

An accomplished drawing exploring the sculptural planes of the hare’s head and ears as well the well observed and captured texture of its fur which is enhanced by the tactile choice of vellum as a ground

Bold composition and direct gaze of the hare really holds the viewers attention. It also shows a confident and unusual use of colour pencils.

Convincing draughtsmanship and colouration

This interpretation of the Curves theme was very popular

Rainbow Curve
Rainbow Curve by Raven.

  Comments by Judges:

I became utterly absorbed in the arresting hallucinogenic swirls.

Elegant in its simplicity, with lines that feel both fluid and powerful.

An interesting and well executed composition exploring curves,     movement, rhythm and unusual combinations of colours which   effectively vibrate and rotate round the whole surface.

This Psychedelic composition is a joyous exploration of pattern.

The Balance theme was beautifully interpreted by

Arial Acrobat by Michelle Knight

    Comments by Judges:

Loved the splashes of colour and the clever shapes within the piece.

A striking piece that captures both strength and grace in perfect harmony.

One feels the weight and balance of this young gymnast on this             suspended   ring, while the more abstract areas of the face and   upstretched  arm and leg create a feeling of movement effectively   captured  in this pastel composition.

Wrestles with ambitious subject matter in a way that shows a deep                                                                                          respect for the forms of the acrobat.
